TANABATA FESTIVAL
According to the legend, Tanabata (July 7th) is the day that celebrates the love between
the star god princess Orihime and the cow herder Hikoboshi. Their love infuriated the God of the Heavens’, Orihime’s father, and they were allowed to meet only once a year, on the 7th day of the 7th month. Since the Milky Way was too difficult to cross, a flock of magpies would come and make a bridge for Orihime, but if it rains the magpies will not come, and the two lovers must wait another year to be reunited.
In present-day Japan, people celebrate Tanabata by writing wishes on tanzaku, small pieces of paper, and hanging them on bamboo.
Would you like to experience Tanabata? Then this is the perfect occasion to!
In this event you will be able to write your own tanzaku and decorate your own original uchiwa (hand-held fan). The Japanese summer can be quite humid and draining so we have prepared a variety of fresh beverages to enjoy during the event.
